The Creative Industries Cluster Programme will be hosting an extensive programme for UK companies at SXSW in March 2020, including the Immersive Futures Lab - a showcase of immersive R&D prototypes.

SXSW is a conference and festival that celebrates the convergence of the interactive, film, and music industries with over 70,000 conference delegates drawn from 106 countries.

The XR Track and Virtual Cinema had a footfall of over 14,000 people in 2019. It’s a unique opportunity to meet and network with key stakeholders from the creative industry.

The cost of attending and showcasing at SXSW will be heavily subsidised by UKRI for award holders and their partners from both CICP and the Audience of the Future (AotF) Programme.

Developed by the Creative Economy Programme team, the Immersive Futures Lab will be a physical showcase of VR / AR / XR / MR early-stage projects that demonstrate innovative ideas, new types of content and novel use of technologies.

It will be part of SXSW’s official XR track and run alongside the Virtual Cinema, both of which are central to the SXSW programme and attract international audiences of over 14,000 delegates over 3 days.

We are looking for short (5-10 mins) early-stage project and prototype R&D. The projects should be of a very high-standard to ensure that they represent the state-of-the-art for immersive content building on the UK’s world-leading reputation at SXSW.
