New Apprenticeship Opportunities in Fashion and Textiles
Do you have a passion for fashion and fabrics?
Weave is looking to recruit people interested in developing a career in the fashion and textiles industry to join us in our busy textiles factory and fashion house in Lynemouth, Northumberland.
We have 2 full time positions up for grabs. We're offering 30 hours per week at an apprentice wage of over £100 per week.
Apprentices will be provided with hands-on experience, a salary and the opportunity to gain qualifications whilst developing specialist expertise in areas such as:
- Embroidery, embellishment and fabric manipulation
- Pattern cutting
- Fashion illustration
- Constructing 3D products
- Costing and pricing work
- Brand development and market awareness
- Design and production
Apprentices will also get the opportunity to participate in Weave’s rolling programme of visiting industry speakers and join business start-up workshops for those interested in self-employment
Successful apprentices will receive qualifications in Edexcel Level 2 NVQ Certificate in Manufacturing Sewn Products (QCF) and Edexcel BTEC Level 2 Certificate in Apparel, Footwear, Leather or Textile Production (QCF).
We are looking for people who:
- Are enthusiastic about fashion and textiles
- Want to learn the art of costume construction
- Have a desire to learn industrial sewing machines skills
- Would like to be part of a team
- Get a sense of achievement from completing a task
- Can follow instructions
- Like to pay attention to detail
- Are happy to work under pressure and to a tight deadline
- Have a basic understanding of maths
- Are reliable and punctual

This Two Week Introductory Course Includes Level 1 Arts and Crafts & Art Design!
Whilst participating on this course delegates, will have the opportunity to develop their own creative identity in designing and making textile products for the market. The programme will conclude with an opportunity for participants who wish to start an apprenticeship or gain employment in the industry to demonstrate the skills they have acquired to the fashion world!

Northern Clothing and Textile Network is supported Design Network North, which is part of RTC’s new programme called ‘Designing Better Business’ – launched in 2016 - which will provide support for north east businesses looking to continue to innovate and design better world leading products. RTC was founded in 1989 with the sole purpose of helping businesses innovate and create new higher value products. Today, the business operates out of offices in Sunderland, Gateshead, Leeds and Daresbury and specialises in helping companies develop new products, embed new skills through training and access funding for innovation.
